Mail Me Art: Medium Without a Message

This looks like it's shaping up to be a really good event. Below you'll find some information from the organisers.
---

Mail Me Art: Medium Without a Message
is the follow-up to the successful 2008 Mail Me Art: Going Postal. We are proud to announce we have over 700 new pieces of mail art. Medium Without a Message is be an amazing collection of envelopes and boxes from around the world decorated by some of today’s most talented illustrators and artists. What makes the work special is that every single piece of art was sent through the postal system, exposed and on view as regular mail. At the end of this month all of the work will be on display at the London Mail Me Art exhibition.

How can you help support the project and become part of it? Well... The running costs for the project are currently at around £6000  ($9120). We’re hoping to recoup most of that by selling the new book and we’re also hoping to make the artists lots of money by selling their work at the exhibition! We’ve just finished the book and we got as many of the mail artists into the book as possible in some way or another! So please help us recoup some of the costs by making a pledge and supporting the project! In return for a pledge we're sending people copies of the new book. We've also got some really cool artwork up for grabs from the likes of Dan May & Jon Burgerman!

Please check out the site for more details - http://mailmeart.com/going-postal/pledge/

Received my contributors copy of the 1st issue of the DIY Times zine.

Created by Kay from Get a Grip Studio (you may also know Kay from her adventures as CutOut), & Nath from No Guts No Glory.

Featuring interviews with artists, designers, promoters, collectives, publishers, musicians, bloggers, printers & makers the zine has a strong focus on self-employed creatives. Inside you'll also find a little interview with Ammo too!

The zine has a screen printed cover by Sam (also from Get A Grip Studio) and only costs £2. Cover Design by Alex Curtis.

ShellsuitZombie - Issue 1

Jonny from ShellsuitZombie was kind enough to send me over a copy of their new magazine.

Really impressed by the overall print quality and amazed that they got the almighty Eboy to create the cover and a pull-out poster too! Also includes an article by Adrian Shaughnessy.

Great start to what will surely be a very successful mag. So glad this made it to print!

Oh, and it's only £2.50!

The Publishers Club - First official meet & greet

The Publishers Club (PubClub for short) was started by Bec Brown from Blanket Magazine, Julian James from NewSugar & Ammo in 2009. We all got on so well via email we decided it'd be great to meet face to face. We first met in Birmingham, had a great time and decided to plan another meeting. We also felt that there was no need to exclude others from the meeting so opened up the event to like-minded creatives.

A great selection of publishers, illustrators, designers & creative people turned up at the Vibe Bar in London and we chatted over drinks late into the night. Met some Ammo artist's for the first time including Gemma Correll, Steve Rack, Dave Bain & Lisa Hassell. Also caught up with issue 1 interviewees Colin Hood & PubClub co-founder Julian James.

Really pleased with the response and we plan to hold lots more events across the country. We also hope to build PubClub into a more structured event with lots of interesting elements involded. Watch this space for more info on future events and check out the PubClub pics on the Ammo Flickr page.

Ten Fingers Issue 1

Screen printed in 3 colours & hand assembled by memohelen this is a really impressive little zine. The screen printing is very high quality & it's neatly bound with an orange thread. The first issue's theme is 'hometowns' & inside you'll find the response to this theme from 7 artists & Helen too. Included are previous Ammo artists Gemma Correll & Jen Collins.

This zine is great value for money especially when you consider the amount of work that must have gone into each copy. Looking forward to issue 2!

Mister Millerchip Screen Print

Here's my take on the holy grail.

The Holy Grail is a mystical goblet most often identified as the cup used by some gent with a
beard that gate-crashed the Last Supper, this magical mug was supposed to possess
miraculous powers ever lasting life and eternal youth, so basically the same feeling you get
when you sup down a warm cup of tea on a cold morning :).........magic.

Print Details:

Bone Mugs & Harmony
30 Limited Edition prints
Hand pulled Environmental Screen Prints
200gsm off white stock paper
Signed and numbered by the artist
£45.00 including P&P
